The Centre for Research and Training on Gender and Women’s Health, Khon Kaen University, Thailand has been officially designated by the World Health Organization as a WHO Collaborating Centre for Research and Training on Gender and Women’s Health (WHOC-CRTGWH). Gender roles and unequal gender relations interact with other social and economic variables, resulting in different and sometimes inequitable pattern of exposure to health risk, differential access to and utilization of health information, care and services. Health equity can be achieved by providing gender sensitivity health care services, research, education and policy development. The centre recognizes the importance of improving the health of individuals and is in the best position to contribute to the achievement of health equity. All members of the centre would like to thank all people involved in the designation including members of WHO SEARO, WHO Representatives to Thailand, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, The Ministry of Public Health, Thailand, and Khon Kaen University. CRTGWH will continue to collaborate with WHO and SEARO to provide training and research opportunities around the region in the area of gender and women’s health in an effort to achieve our desired goals.
